Press Release: Terri Atkins Wilson named as Cumberland County Assistant Commissioner of Accounts

TERRI ATKINS WILSON NAMED AS CUMBERLAND COUNTY ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER OF ACCOUNTS

Farmville, Virginia – August 9, 2017 – Terri Atkins Wilson, owner and operator of Terri Atkins Wilson, P.C., a law firm in Farmville, Virginia, has been appointed Assistant Commissioner of Accounts for Cumberland County, Virginia.

A current resident of Cumberland County, Mrs. Wilson fills the vacant position in the office of the Assistant Commissioner of Accounts for Cumberland County, occasioned by the death of Mr. James P. “Penny” Baber, who held that position for many years, as well as the retirement of Mrs. Carolyn Zirkle Helgeson, who was the Assistant Commissioner of Accounts with Mr. Baber. The current Commissioner of Accounts position is held by Elizabeth Brown, Esq.

Mrs. Wilson, who was born in Farmville, Virginia, completed her undergraduate degree in accounting from the E. Claiborne Robins School of Business at the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia, in 1982. Mrs. Wilson then earned her Juris Doctor, her law degree, from the T. C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond in 1985. She began working for a local accounting firm, Sabatini and Winn, from 1985 until joining the tax department of the regional accounting firm of McGladrey & Pullen in 1986. Mrs. Wilson earned her Certified Public Accounting designation as well as passing the Virginia State Bar Exam in October of 1985.

After returning to Farmville in 1988 and assisting her father, the late Landon G. Atkins, in selling and managing real estate, Mrs. Wilson re-activated her law license in 2007, working part time for the Legacy Law Group in Richmond. Mrs. Wilson then continued to sell real estate and manage rental property under the name of Landon G. Atkins, Inc., Real Estate as well as practicing law. Her law practice, under the firm name of Terri Atkins Wilson & Associates, P.C. began in 2009.

On October 1, 2016, Mrs. Wilson purchased the former law office of retiring attorney, Jill C. Dickerson, and Terri Atkins Wilson, P.C. moved to the new and current location at 117 N. Main Street in Farmville, Virginia. The firm currently offers legal services in the practice areas of real estate law, business formations, wills, trusts and estate administration, minor traffic offenses and collections.
